Piggy came to the shelter as a stray. As you can see, in her before picture, she was quite a bit overweight. The shelter does not adopt out farm animals, so they are placed on rescue only. Piggy was posted to the rescue list, and move to Act pledged from our Moore Life Medical Fund to help a rescue pay for her spay surgery. Many people do not know it usually costs a rescue over $200 to spay a pig. It can be difficult for small rescues to raise funds, so we hoped to remove the financial barrier to Piggy finding a rescue. It didn’t take long before A Critter’s Chance stepped up to help! Poor Piggy could not be spayed until she lost some weight, so she was put on a diet. She has since slimmed down and had her surgery. She wasn’t very friendly at first, but she is much sweeter now that she has been spayed. We’re sure she feels better having lost weight too! Thank you for supporting our Moore Life Medical Fund.
