Maverick is a diabetic dog surrendered to IACS because his family could not afford the vetsulin. He is a large dog so this is a big expense. His diabetes was not controlled and he has had other issues like an ear infection. He eats a prescription food that costs almost $100 per 35# . This week we learned that Maverick needs to have a cataract surgery. The foster said that he is frustrated as he has been losing his vision. That surgery at IndyVet is estimated at $6000.
