Petunia

Petunia

Before

When Petunia arrived at the shelter, she was quiet, easy-going, and visited nicely at the cage. She passed her temperament test, but, over time, in the stressful shelter environment, her behavior deteriorated, and she became difficult to handle and mouthy.  She got over-stimulated one day when walking with a volunteer and nipped him on the ankle. It was nothing bad, but it did break skin.  She had to be placed on 10-day quarantine hold, which made her behavior even worse.  She was given a “must have rescue by” date right after her quarantine was up.  Staff decided to heartworm test, as it usually helps a dog’s rescue chances, if he/she is heartworm negative.  Sadly, Petunia was positive.  Her chances for rescue were very slim.  move to Act quickly made a pledge to help with the cost of heartworm treatment.  At the very last moment, Canine Castaways stepped up to save her!  They just couldn’t stand the thought of this beautiful girl not making it out.  Petunia is currently undergoing her heartworm treatment and doing well in a foster home.  Thank you to those of you who have supported our Last Chance Fund and helped us be a part of getting Petunia to safety!  If you would like to help us help more animals, please visit http://www.movetoact.com/donate.php to make a donation.
