Magenta came to the shelter as as a stray. She made it to the adoption floor and was doing well, but someone noticed she walked with a limp. The medical staff did x-rays, and it appeared she may have hip dysplasia. Magenta was placed on rescue only, in the hope a rescue would be able to do further diagnostics and find an adopter who understood she may need ongoing pain management. Magenta was heartworm positive as well, so her care would be expensive. move to Act pledged from our Moore Life Medical Fund to help with the cost. Canine Castaways stepped up to rescue this sweet girl, and one of our move to Act board members is fostering her! She is now named Maggie and has already had her heartworm treatment. She has to be kept calm for four weeks after treatment until she is retested, and she has about two weeks left. She had further x-rays on her hips, and it turns out she does not have hip dysplasia! She has been getting around just fine and doing well. Maggie has been very well-behaved for her foster mom, is house-trained, loves, belly rubs, and does well with other dogs. She has now found a forever home where she is very much loved! If you would like to donate and be a part of saving dogs like Maggie, please visit http://www.movetoact.
