Jaba

Jaba

Before

Jaba arrived as a stray. He was emaciated and had a very sad look about him. One of the staff fell in love with him and kept him in the front office when she could. He got quite a bit of attention and gained 16 pounds in a few weeks! Staff learned he is a smart dog who learns quickly. They taught him sit, shake, high five, and to wait for his food. He was temp tested for the adoption floor and did poorly in all three categories. He growled during handling and sometimes became stiff, as if he felt threatened. He was bossy and guarding of his food, but he did listen to a staff member when she taught him to wait. He also did not do very well when introduced to another dog. Poor Jaba had three strikes against him, but staff believed he was a great dog who deserved a chance. He was put on the rescue only list. After waiting about two weeks, staff noticed Jaba’s behavior was deteriorating in the kennel. He was developing barrier aggression and becoming very guarding of his food bowl. He was given a “must have rescue by” date. move to Act pledged from our Last Chance Fund in the hope of encouraging a rescue to save him. The date Jaba had to have rescue by passed with no rescue. Fortunately, the next day, a rescue miracle happened, and Last Call K9s found a foster! Jaba was rescued! He has now been renamed to Java, and his foster mom says he is an angel who listens very well.
