Feather and Peaches’ (Peaches is posted separately on our site) owner was reported for neglect and decided to surrender these girls to the shelter. Feather is nine years old, and Peaches is six. Both were terrified at the shelter. A staff member put Feather in her office to try to make friends, and the poor girl wasn’t even interested in snacks. She just wedged herself under the desk to hide. Peaches was a little more social but still scared and not sure about being petted. Feather had crusty and itchy skin, an ear infection, and a head tilt. Peaches also had skin and ear issues. These girls were very bonded, and while they were posted separately for rescue, it was made known they were a bonded pair. Everyone hoped they would go to rescue together.
Indy’s Voice for Animals pledged for each of them to help a rescue pay for their care. They waited quite some time for a spot to open, but Waldo’s Muttley Crew made room and came to their rescue! They are starting their new life with the new names of Faith and Hope. While they were given medication and flea treatment at the shelter, their vet visit revealed their skin was still extremely infected from years of flea infestation. They were started on antibiotics and given a steroid shot to help speed the healing process. Faith has a cyst above her tail that will eventually need to be removed, but first, she needs to get healthier. They are both starting to come out of their shell and enjoy the TLC they have deserved for so long.
