Audrey was eight years old when she was brought to the shelter after her owners went into the hospital. As you can see in her picture, she had a large hanging mammary mass. The shelter vet wasn’t sure if removal was possible due to the size, so further diagnostics were needed. She also had skin issues on her back and tail, which caused her to be itchy. The poor girl had lost quite a bit of fur from scratching. The Rescue Coordinator started looking for a quick rescue and put Audrey in her office, so she could be more comfortable. Audrey was well behaved in the office and greeted everyone she met nicely. She is potty-trained and loves going for walks, eating snacks, and having a good nap!
Indy’s Voice for Animals pledged to help a rescue get Audrey the care she needed. Albert’s Dog Lounge stepped up to help and took her straight to the vet. Blood work and x-rays determined the tumor had not metastasized to her heart or lungs! They are awaiting the results of further blood work to make sure she is in good health for surgery to remove the mass. She has also started an antibiotic for her skin, medicated baths, and treatment for yeast in her ears. Audrey also needs to be spayed and have a dental. As you can imagine, all of this will cost the rescue quite a bit of money. Thank you to those of you who support our Moore Life Medical Fund and help animals like Audrey get the care they need!
