Gretchen came to the shelter as a stray. It is odd to imagine a stray pig wandering the city, but it does happen. The shelter typically only adopts out dogs and cats, so Gretchen was placed on the rescue only list. move to Act pledged from our Moore Life Medical Fund to help with the cost of her care. She likely would need to be spayed, and there are no low-cost options for spaying pigs. It is typically over $200, even with a rescue discount! PJ3 Menagerie Farm and Sanctuary rescued Gretchen, and she is doing very well. Her foster says she is very sweet and has already made friends with some of the other barn animals. She has had her hooves trimmed and will be undergoing diagnostics to see if she has already been spayed. If she hasn’t she will be undergoing surgery soon.
