Who we are
Indy’s Voice 4 Animals is part of move to ACT (mtA), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting animal welfare and adoption initiatives in the Greater Indianapolis area. With your help, our mission is to heighten community awareness of animal welfare issues and to advocate for improved policies and practices. We seek truth and responsibility, and are guided by principles of respect, accountability and integrity.
Originally founded in 2003 to cast light on the mismanagement and fiscal irresponsibility then occurring at the Humane Society of Indianapolis, move to ACT now focuses on numerous ways to help save the lives of at-risk animals. As Indy’s Voice 4 Animals, our primary goals include:
- Educating the public about animal welfare issues and how to choose a responsible charity
- Promoting the rescue of adoptable animals from kill shelters and working toward No Kill, a nationwide initiative
- Providing support to local all-volunteer animal rescue organizations
Our strategic plan
Although much progress has been made, far too many animals are still being killed in shelters for the simple “crime” of being homeless. We work to change that by supporting the small, under-recognized animal rescue organizations in the central Indiana area that operate 100% with volunteers. By helping these diligent groups increase their visibility through various activities in the community and providing financial assistance through our Moore Life Medical Fund and Last Chance Fund, we strive to increase the number of animals leaving Indianapolis Animal Care Services alive.
Donations in any amount to the Moore Life Medical Fund and Last Chance Fund are very much appreciated and tax-deductible.
We believe, as Massachusetts SPCA founder George Angell said in 1868:
“When human beings finally learn to honor the spirit of all beings,
most of the world’s problems will be solved.”
