There has been significant scrambling at the SPCA Tampa Bay recently in what would appear to be efforts to hide the exposure of its seriously misguided administrative practices.  This has been evident in the disappearance of information from the agency’s website.

If you encounter broken or misdirected links in this post do not be surprised.  Desperation knows no bounds.

Who or What Disappears Next from the SPCA Tampa Bay webpages?

  • CEO Martha Boden Membership Listing in the Association for Animal Welfare Advancement (AAWA) Spotlight on Martha Boden “One of animal welfares brightest stars”
  • SPCA Tampa Bay Executive Administrators’ images and names
  • Board of Directors names
  • Board of Directors Web Page
  • Manipulated animal statistics pages

Disappeared

On Sept 6 of this year, the Association for Animal Welfare Advancement (AAWA) was notified of the guilty plea by the SPCA Tampa Bay for animal cruelty.  Within 48 hours Martha Boden, SPCATB President and CEO who had been listed as an AAWA board member, was gone from the organization’s web page.

Disappeared

As of this posting the SPCATB web page “Member Spotlight: Get to Know Martha Boden, By The AAWA” remains with the bold print:

We are honored to introduce you to one of animal welfare’s brightest stars

Disappeared

After the investigation of the animal cruelty charges for the treatment of Waddles the pig, the SPCATB executive leadership names and images vanished.

SPCA Tampa Bay Meet our Team

Disappeared

As of August, of this year the following (16) individuals were listed as SPCA Tampa Bay board directors:

Tina Thomas, Catherine Mitchell, Trevor Tillwick, Dr. Julie Kessel, Erica Maxwell, Dick Caldwell, Will Freeman, Naomi Harker, Sasha Lohn, Merissa Lynn, Erin Maloney, Rachel Menger, Stephanie Morge, Carrie O’Brion, Rhoda Restivo, Julie Rockwell

As of mid Sept these 10 members were still posted as directors

Tina Thomas, Catherine Mitchell, Trevor Tillwick, Dr. Julie Kessel, Dick Caldwell, Will Freeman, Merissa Lynn, Stephanie Morge, Carrie O’Brion and Rhoda Restivo.

Some of these absent directors may have come to a term limit, but others were relatively new to the board and had been a director for less than a year.

Disappeared

As of mid-September, that SPCATB Board of Directors listing is gone.  In its place is the text: “Under Construction”

Are there any board members remaining?  How many?

How much longer will they support the embarrassment this SPCATB administration brings to the community and the agency itself?

Disappeared

After exposing years of manipulated animal statistics data, SPCATB administration deleted more than a decade of its data from its “Transparency with Purpose/Community Impact Statistics” page. It is replaced with meaningless grids and numbers that do not reflect the accurate disposition of the animals who come through the agency’s doors.

Summary

CEO Martha Boden hung on by her fingernails at Indyhumane before finally being released by the Board of Directors in 2008.  It was a costly separation (with a non-disclosure agreement) but even more costly would have been to let her remain to complete the agency’s implosion..

How weak, or strong, are these remaining SPCATB directors to confront themselves to deal with this (self-described) “one of animal welfare’s brightest stars?”
