Conditions at Indianapolis Animal Care Services has reached (and has chronically experienced for years) inhumane conditions. Recently management has reduced volunteer hours and been dismissive of the public’s efforts to deliver supportive care to the animals languishing in antiquated housing.

What is power and control?

Look at the crime rate in Marion County.  Look at the infrastructure.

City administration, from IACS management to City County Council to the Mayor’s office deprioritize animal care, along with most everything else.

According to Wikipedia, pertinent issues for the councilors are:

  • Scooters Removal/Regulations[25]
  • Addressing Potholes[26]
  • Improve Downtown[27]
  • BlueIndy[28]
  • Equity and Equality[29]
  • Council Pay Raise[30]

Where is the issue of animal care?

What is the councilors’ compensation for not caring?

And who pays for that?  Marion County residents/tax payers.

Who votes for these care less representatives?  Marion County residents/tax payers

Absent from city management to better care for the animals under its watch is political will.

Absent from self-serving city management is compassion, and competency.

Name a city of Indianapolis administrator with the above qualities.

The recently approved new animal care facility is welcome but more welcome would be a tincture of humanity and decency.
