ESPN reports that despite Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick’s involvement in a large dogfighting operation in Virginia he is unlikely to be indicted. 56 pit bulls were found during an April raid at a rural house owned by Vick. Federal agents have recently excavated a suspected pit bull burial site for evidence. Vick has claimed to be unaware of dogfighting on his property blaming other family members. He has since sold the property. A Sports Illustrated report alleges rather widespread involvement of professional atheletes in dogfighting. MtA vigorously opposes dogfighting in Indianapolis. An opportunity now exists for our teams-the Colts and Pacers-to step up and support efforts to end dogfighting locally. Their players would be very credible spokepersons in such a campaign. Comments?
